From there you walk: down the elegant Kohlmarkt past Demel's windows, across the Graben, into the hush of St. Peter's, and finally to St. Stephen's Cathedral, its gothic spire rising over a roof of 230,000 hand-glazed tiles. Slip behind the cathedral and Vienna turns intimate — narrow lanes, hidden courtyards, and the very house where Mozart wrote The Marriage of Figaro.

The tour ends where Vienna becomes legend: the Prater and the Giant Ferris Wheel, built for Franz Joseph's golden jubilee and immortalized in The Third Man.
