You'll pass the Sacher, the Albertina, and the Monument Against War and Fascism, then drift through the Naschmarkt's spice-scented aisles before standing inside the baroque dream of the Belvedere.

Then comes the crescendo. Past the City Park's golden Strauss, past St. Charles' Church and the Musikverein, your driver carries you to Schönbrunn — Austria's most visited treasure and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The former Habsburg summer residence opens onto formal gardens that stretch to the horizon, and if you wish, your guide can arrange skip-the-line entry to the imperial state rooms. The tour can end at Kahlenberg, with all of Vienna laid out beneath you at sunset, or quietly at your hotel door. Most visitors leave Vienna with photographs. You'll leave with the city itself.
