Your private guide will pick you up at your hotel in a Mercedes limousine/van or Tesla. Your tour vehicle offers extra large windows and plenty of space.

 

Heading west alongside the river you drive to the wine-town of Krems and you will walk here with your guide in this charming town. You can also shop here. After the short visit we will keep driving and finally enter the Danube Valley.

 

You will visit to the medieval town of Dürnstein, where the English King Richard Lionheart was held prisoner in the 12th century. Your guide will show you the highlights, including the town hall, the medieval courtyards, the rustic wine taverns and the abbey of St. Augustine with its famous blue tower.  You will take a short hike to the castle where Richard Lionheart suffered back in the day.

 

This is optional:

You will continue your journey to Spitz where you depart on a Danube river cruise. A modern ship takes you to the upstream town of Melk in 1,5 hours. Have lunch on board and enjoy the amazing scenery while listening to the commentary explaining the sights.

If you prefer to not take the river cruise we'll gladly assists you by making a reservation in one of the Valley's Wineries for lunch.

 

After lunch you will visit the magnificent Melk Abbey, a monastery, which is over 1000 years old.  Melk Abbey is one of the biggest and most beautiful European Baroque ensembles. Its splendid architecture is famous worldwide and part of UNESCO’s world cultural heritage. The Baroque building situated on a rock overlooking the Danube, in the Wachau region, ranks as one of Austria’s most visited art-historical sites. Optionally, you may take a private tour of the Abbey Museum, the Mable Hall and the baroque library with one of the monasteries own guides (not included).

 

On the way back to Vienna you will be driven across the Western part of Lower-Austria and cross the famous Vienna Woods. The tour ends back at your hotel in Vienna.
