Tour Description

We put together the perfect one-day tour that takes you to all the sites worth seeing. Your private guide will pick you up at your hotel in a Mercedes limousine/van or Tesla. Your tour vehicle offers  extra large windows and plenty of space.

First of all, you drive along the famous Ring Boulevard. You will get out of the car to marvel at the impressive buildings in the style of Historism constructed under Emperor Franz Josef, like the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Art, the Parliament, the City Hall, the Court Theatre and the Vienna University.

On Heroe's Square, you may take pictures of the vast complex of the Hofburg Palace. The former residence of the Habsburgs boasts over 2.600 rooms!  Admire the ample wings and courtyards of the Hofburg and see the Heroe's Square, the Spanish Riding School, the stables of the Lipizzan horses and the church of St. Augustine. There Emperor Franz Josef married his 16-year-old cousin Sisi. You also see several locations from the famous movie "The Third Man.

Then you will walk along the Kohlmarkt, Vienna's most elegant shopping street, resisting the temptation to enter the Demel confectionery and the many designer boutiques. Across the famous Graben Street.Take a quick glimpse into the marvellous church of St. Peter with your guide. If you're lucky you might hear the organ being played. You will arrive at the plague column, a unique masterpiece from the baroque era.

You will be introduced to the St. Stephen's cathedral. Freeze in awe in front of the majestic gothic structure with it's great South Tower and the roof covered with 230.000 glazed tiles.  Many consider the interior of the church as the world´s most stunning.

Then your guide will show you the amazing area behind the cathedral with its narrow streets and hidden courtyards.  You will here see the house where Mozart wrote his famous opera "The Marriage of Figaro" and marvel at the typical “Pawlatschen” access balconies!

At the end of the walking tour, your guide will show you the Sacher Hotel, the Albertina museum and the Monument against War and Fascism.

You will then visit the Naschmarkt, which dates back to the 1600s. The spice, dried fruit and nut stands may make you think you are in the middle of a Middle Eastern market if it were not for the palatial mansions lining the Wienzeile and the neatly stocked Viennese produce. This is a popular meeting place for young and old, especially on Saturday when it turns into a flea market.

You will also visit the Belvedere, which consists of two Baroque palaces (the Upper and Lower Belvedere), the Orangery, and the Palace Stables. The buildings are set in a Baroque park landscape in the third district of the city, on the southeastern edge of its center.

Leaving the city center, you get to the Danube area with the United Nations buildings and the Danube Tower. You also visit the nearby Prater amusement park with the world-famous Giant Ferris Wheel. It was erected in 1897 to mark the 50th year of Emperor Franz Joseph's accession to the throne.

The Giant Ferris Wheel has also played the "lead role" in several Hollywood films, such as "The Third Man" with Orson Wells or in the James Bond adventure "The Living Daylights" starring Timothy Dalton. That's why it was also placed on the list of Treasures of European Film Culture by the European Film Academy.

On the way to the Schönbrunn Palace you pass other sights like the City Park with the famous golden statue of Johann Strauss, St. Charles’ church and the concert hall of the Musikverein.

The visit of Schönbrunn Palace and grounds (a Unesco World Heritage Site) is another highlight of this tour. The former summer residence of the Habsburgs is Austria's number one tourist attraction. Take your time to marvel at the impressive palace and visit the amazing gardens.

Skip the line: If you would like to include a private guided tour of the Schönbrunn Palace showrooms we will reserve your tickets in advance, ensuring that you do not wait in line.

Other optional stops on this tour include the Belvedere Palace and the Kahlenberg hill with its fantastic city views. The tour ends back at your hotel.

Decide for yourself where to stop and how much time you wish to spend at each location. Your knowledgeable guide shares intriguing stories and anecdotes with you and is ready to respond to your every request and requirement.
